    duty. When the barrage had got far ahead
    of the attacking troops on account of the bad
    state of the ground, he took command of
    men of different battalions and organised a
    determined attack on two '' pill-boxes''
    which were holding up the advance. He got
    within thirty yards in spite of heavy fire.
    Being then stopped by wire, he consolidated
    the poeition, and carried out a valuable reconnaissance.' (LG 19/04/1918)
