    M C ' For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to
    duty. He was in charge of a party of men
    detailed for stretcher-bearer work. He
    organised his squads, and, regardless of
    danger, went forward locating and dressing
    the wounded under fire. Later, .he guided
    his squads to these wounded cases, and
    evacuated them to the rear. He carried
    back himself a wounded man whom he had
    found close to an enemy "pill-box"' (LG 23/04/1918)
